Application
With an increasing demand for fuel ethanol, the DDGS and wet distillers’ grains are viewed as a potential bridge feedstock for ethanol production from other cellulosic biomass. The introduction of DDGS or wet distillers’ grains as an additional feed to the existing dry grind plants for increased ethanol yield requires a different approach to the compositional analysis of the material. Rather than focusing on its nutritional value, this new approach aims at determining more detailed chemical composition, especially on polymeric sugars such as cellulose, starch and xylan, which release fermentable sugars upon enzymatic hydrolysis. In this paper we present a detailed and complete compositional analysis procedure suggested for DDGS and wet distillers’ grains, as well as the resulting compositions completed by three different research groups. Polymeric sugars, crude protein, crude oil and ash contents of DDGS and wet distillers’ grains were accurately and reproducibly determined by the compositional analysis procedure.
Our distillery dry wheat DDGS contains at least 17 different amino acids, total content in terms of dry matter, reaches 35%. The share of carbohydrates, have an average-13, 5%, mineral salts, 2, 4%. It provides a full range of B vitamins, as well as micro and macro.
The nutritive value of our wheat dry distillery grains exceeds standard DDGS feed and grain waste. It is contained in 1 kg from 1.08 to 1.27 units of food and especially a lot of digestible (true) protein.
With its high exchange energy, our distillery dry wheat grains DDGS can be used in the production of animal feed and as an additive in livestock feed rations, to improve the nutritional value of diets
efficiency of utilization
Conducted by research institutes in Russia experiments livestock expert evaluating our distillery dry wheat DDGS showed:
- Loss of poultry are significantly reduced (96-97% safety).
- Increased egg production by 3.3%, and improve the quality of eggs
- While fattening young cattle replacing 28-30% of the ration of wheat grain distillery stillage dry DDGS increases average daily gain from 833-830 and 985-1025
- The use of after dry wheat DDGS in the feed in an amount of 10-20% for fattening young pigs results in increased average daily weight gain from 665-729
- When feeding dairy cows forage containing 25% DDGS dry milking efficiency is increased by 5.1%.
Thus, the use of our distillery dry wheat DDGS is very beneficial in animal unnecessarily increases the production of meat, milk, eggs, and improving product quality. From an economic point of view, the use of our distillery dry wheat DDGS has a high profitability. Because the dry grains, our product-waste production, and it is cheaper to feed grain, and the content of vitamins, amino acids and trace elements in it is high enough, it generally reduces feed costs and therefore reduces the cost of production.
